Hobbs Heirloom Premium 80/20 Black Batting is designed specifically for quilts made with black, navy, and other dark-colored fabrics. Its rich black color helps maintain the true appearance of dark fabrics and prevents light-colored fibers from showing through or creating visible lint on the quilt top.

Made from 80% colorfast, dyed cotton and 20% polyester, this batting combines the softness and traditional drape of cotton with the strength and stability of polyester. Its bonded, needle-punched construction makes it easy to quilt by hand or machine while resisting shifting, bunching, and bearding.

Close quilting creates a flat, low-loft appearance, while wider spacing between quilting lines produces a slightly fuller finish. Quilting stitches should be spaced no more than 4" apart.

The generous 108" width accommodates many large quilt tops without requiring the batting to be pieced. Each roll contains 30 continuous yards and is shipped in a protective box to help prevent damage during transit.

Care Instructions

Pre-washing is not recommended. Complete the quilting first, then wash and dry the finished quilt according to the fabric’s care instructions.
